Bear shifters love their food. Here’s a recipe that’s from Louisiana, just like our hero, Bobby Tremain. Enjoy!

Pillowcase Cookies
Fishermen would bring these cookies onboard with them in pillowcases.
2 1/2 Cups of flour
1 Cup of sugar
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 Eggs and 1 yolk
1/2 cup of butter, cut up
1 tbsp of whole milk
1 tsp of vanilla extract

Mix flour, sugar, and baking powder in a bowl.
Cut in butter with a pastry knife or blender until you have crumbs
ln another bowl, whisk egg, yolk, milk, and vanilla.
Add egg mix to flour mix until almost combined.
Work dough into a ball with your hands.
Flatten the dough ball into a disk, cover with plastic, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Heat oven to 350 Fahrenheit.
Roll dough 1/4 inches thick and cut with your favorite cookie cutters.
Bake on a cookie sheet until tops are golden, about 12 minutes.
Enjoy while reading Barely Awake!
